Tempus Public Foundation Highlights

About Tempus Public Foundation

Tempus Public Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1996 by the Hungarian Government, with the task of managing international cooperation programmes and special projects in the field of education, training and EU-related issues.

Our Activities

Programmes

The Tempus Public Foundation manages a wide range of mobility programmes that offer opportunities to all actors in Hungarian education and training, while also contributing to strengthening the internationalisation of Hungarian Higher Education. In addition to its two flagship programmes - the Pannonia Scholarship Programme and the Stipendium Hungaricum – the Public Foundation coordinates the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, the CEEPUS programme, the Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship, and bilateral state scholarships.

Supporting Activities and Networks

The supporting activities of Tempus Public Foundation aim to strenghten the internationalisation of the Hungarian education and training systems, and increase their social impact. The Study in Hungary portal provides information for students and lecturers arriving in Hungary, while the Alumni Network Hungary supports former scholarship holders in maintaining their professional connections. The Public Foundation contributes to the work of the National VET Teams and the SALTO TCA Resource Centre, and operates training courses and a mentoring network for teachers.

Internationalisation

Internationalisation is a dynamic process all over the world and it is not easy to grasp the essence and the meaning of it. These processes are often seen only as a trend in student mobility and foreign language courses but this is a simplification. Experts call the attention to the fact that internationalisation has a deeper meaning and should affect higher education in more fundamental aspects.
